Is HDB parking free on Sundays and public holidays?
Only participating carparks offer the HDB Free Parking Scheme. Do not assume every HDB carpark or every bay is free.
Check the carpark, time and bay
- Look for the Free Parking Scheme signage at the specific carpark.
- Check the stated free-parking hours and whether the day is a Sunday or Singapore public holiday.
- Follow reserved-bay and other access restrictions.
SG Carpark Finder shows free-parking information and holiday-aware current-period rates where verified schedules are available. On-site signs and current operator notices take precedence.
Read the HDB Free Parking Scheme
Do not use a generic hourly calculator to infer a public-holiday exemption.
The free window has a start and an end
HDB describes the Free Parking Scheme window as 7.00am to 10.30pm on Sundays and public holidays at participating HDB carparks. Participation must be checked for the particular carpark. A free period is not permission to park in a reserved bay or to leave a vehicle outside a marked space.
Three arrival examples
- Sunday afternoon: if you arrive at 2pm and leave at 4pm, first establish that the carpark participates and the bay is permitted. The date alone does not establish eligibility.
- Sunday late evening: a visit from 10pm to 11pm crosses the stated end of the free window. Check how parking after 10.30pm is charged; do not enter a zero rate for the entire hour.
- Saturday evening: a visit that continues into Sunday crosses a day boundary. Check the chargeable periods on both sides rather than treating the whole visit as Sunday parking.
A practical check on arrival
Match the carpark code shown in your search result to the sign at the entrance. Nearby HDB blocks may be served by different carparks with different conditions. Read the free-parking notice, check the current time, then check the bay markings. If any part is unclear, confirm the operator's current information before assuming no payment is needed.
Keep the price question separate from the access question. A free-parking notice does not tell you whether a bay is reserved, whether an entrance is temporarily closed, or whether your vehicle fits the height restriction. Those checks still matter for a short family visit.
Using the finder alongside the signs
The app helps you identify the carpark and compare a backup. Its reference information can make planning easier, but it cannot approve your parking session or reserve a lot. If the sign differs from the app, use the current sign and report the code, the conflicting detail and an official source through Support.
